"The Simon Wiesenthal Center applauds Christian Dior for putting principle above profit and taking necessary action against a bigot whose public displays of anti-Semitism demanded that Mr. Galliano be removed," said Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, dean and associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a leading Jewish human rights NGO.

"Christian Dior's principled response is especially important at a time when the Wiesenthal Center has bemoaned a spike in public anti-Semitic diatribes emanating not only from marginalized extremists, but from among elite personalities in media, finance and public policy."

"As for the world's top designer, if he cannot control his bigotry in the future perhaps he can find a job designing clothes for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad," Wiesenthal Center officials concluded.

  • Off with his head!

  • Galliano is a vulgar, bigot. His removal from Dior is step one. This schmuck ought to spend a some time incarcerated in a French jail.

  • people hate a winner...

  • ...who fuckin cares. free speech.

  • well helen had a point when she said that...

you just don't go into a foreign land and claim it yours :D

  • @Samir08 , did you know that the laws on freedom of expression in France where Galiani was arrested are different than in the USA, that making racist/hate comments is illegal there? We are not talking about the US though, even though making people responsible for their speech is something I firmly believe we need to adopt in the USA. In that respect the French Republic's democracy is a bit more advanced than ours. Name calling is irresponsible too, Samir.

  • @SeniorJohnQPublic: Are u stupid? What happened to freedom of expresion?

    Your're the 'schmuck'

  • Gays as well as jews are still victims for hate crime how much people yet trying to distort the truth.

  • To bad that designer cant't see historian facts. Antisemists is to be found everywhere, but it is tragic that people use the nazi history and shoa to their own benefits. I'm so tired. See the christian ex- gay revisionist movement and their crusades against gays and jews. I feel targeted!

  • The latest spree of Jew-hating comments by celebrities has a simple explanation.

It brings attention to them, it shows them as "flamboyant" and makes them "controversial."

    What else does one need?

  • Thank you Joy for highlighting this issue. One thing that everyone can do is sign this petition from Israel for the upcoming anti-Israel week on 50 campuses in North America. It is called restoring sanity. We each need to do our part.
