You used indoor film.. out doors?

What the view or the image on the film? The mirror has nothing to do with what comes out on the film, its just used as a view finder. You can get lots of bayonet lens for the older ones, but the M42 zoom is excellent. The biggest problem is getting a wide lens, 35mm M42 are not correct, they work but appear zoomed in.

They have two models--one that has the M42 screw-mount (which I had) and another one which has a bayonet mount. I'm not sure which is the newer one, but I want to avoid the bayonet mount because I don't want to be restricted to just Zenit optics.
I see Zeiss and Schneider lenses in M42 mount every so often on eBay, and I wanna take advantage of that kinda sharpness.

Well, i don't know about bayonet-mount lenses, isn't the K3 a M42 screw mount unless converted? I have a couple of M42 lenses from the time i was using my Zenit SLR and they work ok.
The shutters condition will not affect the image captured.

I wasn't aware of that. I'll have to keep an eye out for that with my next K-3. Also, do you know if there are any other bayonet-mount lenses besides the stock zoom one and the wide-angle one?
Also, will the shutter's surface condition affect the final image?

Sorry, dude, but this lens was definitely mildewed. I just found it the other day and I took a look at it.
I'm considering another K-3, but they're such a crap shoot. I've seen some good sharp footage shot on them, but that seems to be the exception. Most of it's just borderline passable.

This is down to the shutter's mirrored surface not being mirrored enough. If you take the lens off to inspect it, it looks kinda scratched but use some mirror friendly polish on it and it comes up quite nice.

Looks good. I had a K-3 once, but I never got to see how any of the footage looked. I overwound it and busted the spring with half a roll of film in it. I might get another one, if I could be sure of getting a good one. I think the lens had a mildew problem; the image in the viewfinder looked kinda yellow.

Well, I think it should be yellow.
