2010 Iowa 3A Cross Country State Championship Assumption High School

It was an extremely fast field this year. Each of the Assumption girls improved the time over the corresponding runner from last year's state team. Despite these much quicker times, the team placed 6th this year, the same as last year. As a point of reference, Beth Mallon's time this year would have given her the 10th spot last year and Erica Grubbs would have been state champion. Due to the faster field, Beth finished out of the top 20 and Erica finished 8th. Nevertheless, it was a great team effort with 3 freshmen finishing in the top 5 for Assumption. 2011 should be a very exciting year for the team.
One note for Erica: she improved her personal best time to 14:57, which shaved approximately 30 seconds per mile from her previous best.
