i had a bypass valve and hydro-locked my engine just cruising, definitely use one, but be careful.
-
ive had 3 civics and always used CAI never had a problem with rain....honestly i had a prob with the stock intakes and a little water on the ground more than anything
-
you can hear the k&n lets airflow little better than AEM, either that or the computer needs to be adjusted

@fifook With CAI you got colder air but SRI give little more power and mane, I like that prrrrw sound :D
Maybe make some cold box like M3 what have or like say before intake for cold air...
I see on Honda Tuning Magazine web that Hondata heatshild don't make any change but air is colder definitly.

I just got a new Si and was thinking of putting in a short ram. Does it heat-soak sitting back by the firewall? Trip the check engine light?

it doesnt trig the check engine light but it does get heatsoaked on nice weather... Im thinking of getting some cover to reduce the heat but i dont know if it will do much. I would probably go with CAI if i was considering an intake again...

@fifook hm, what about rain with CAI? bypass is ok but I think that is more safe have short ram and make some pipe with cold air intake from front of bumper?!
what you think ?

well, i dont know... in my opinion whatever u will do to SRI to prevent heatsoak it will still be getting a lot of heat from the engine... I'm going to buy intake manifold gasket and see if that reduces any heat. and ur right about the rain with CAI .. thats the only thing holding me back from getting one.

@marcosalverde
Well I used a regular spray paint , applied 3 coats ... here is a great DIY article ww.8thcivic.com/forums/engine/232103-diy-painting-intake-manifold-cover-v2.html
i'm going to repaint mine this summer so it matches the color of the intake
