Dear Mr Allen, if you were really " ene peuple apart entiere", "ene peuple indigene"... your "so called people" would have its own language and not "Mauritian creole"...
-
Translation: What has this brought to us, our young people were on scholarship, we send two to Trinidad Tobago and one in the UK. In June soon we will go to put into practice in Diego Garcia what we have learned. Is this not important. Today we get visits to our homeland, this was never like this before, is this not progress. There are always those who will be for and those against, we respect opinions,
-
Translation: When we were for protection, some were against protection which is normal, and Mauritius followed in this path. I tell you why Mauritius was against the MPA, it’s because the British Government had consulted us, there was a big propaganda. It was black on white that this consultation was without prejudice to the European Court of Human Rights Chagossian case. There was a propaganda and until today this continues.
-
Translation:. When we were in the Diego Garcian Society we were for the MPA, for the first time we were consulted, we made sure that Chagossians could give their opinion in a ballot box, the facilitator of FCO came and took the results that showed a majority for the MPA. When former secretary David Miliband came to Crawley I convinced him, why ? because when I visited our homeland I saw the paradisiac islands that our Parents and Grandparents told us about.
Please read translation from bottom to top. Thanks

Translation: Our government programme in all scholarship that are coming we will not only give this to those in the UK but will in the first place give also to those Chagossians in Mauritius, to learn about Environment protection and to learn management for coordinating environment projects on islands.

Translation: Chagossians this is very important, we recognised all Chagossians whether natives, 2nd generation, those married to Chagossians and so on, whether holders of British Passport or not, I will make sure that the UK Government understands this, our families must not be separated.

Translation: If the European Court of Human Right rule in our favour, the UK Government may come with a policy of resettlement, its normal that the MPA can be adjusted for people to fish and to sell their fish for a living, its logic several times this has been said, but propaganda.

Translation: Its 40 years that we have been away from our homeland, today we can visit, go to scholarship and practice what we have learned, is this not a step forward. We all know that our removal by the UK was bad, everybody knows that even the UK government knows that, but it’s not good reasons to always oppose projects and include resettlement in all this, we need to separate these issues.

Translation: Mauritius was against, but this country(UK) with our support has established the MPA. All organisation like the Chagos Environment Network has supported Chagossians to get scholarship and there are more scholarships coming our way. During the Conference of the 19th of May, there was what we call ‘chasing up the sorcerer’ people coming to talk on protection of the environment came to accuse their friends to say that MPA was to prevent Chagossians from returning.
