owner says he is an American Bulldog / Bullmastiff mix, but I am pretty sure he is a Pit bull / American Bulldog mix

  • have a look at this videos about it.

BBC documentary on Pedigree Dogs (2009), Rhodesian Ridgeback genetic defects

    On Youtube

  • @RedRebel8 I have seen it, and I still think what I said is correct, that the ridge is a trait, not a defect. It's not like the breeders found one or two freak puppies with ridges and decided to breed them, it's the ridge less ones that are a rare occurrence.

That is just a sensationalist documentary, as I don't think any breeders now a days cull ridge less puppies, almost all are placed into homes as pets.

  • how do u call this video "Rhodesian Ridgeback vs Pitbull HD" dude they are playing you would poop in ur pants watching a Rhodesian Ridgeback fighting......

  • @MrNativeDancer A little bit of both, my Ridgeback was about 2 years old in this video and about 85 lbs, and now he is 5 years old and 92 lbs... which is small for a male Rhodesian even if he is within the breed standard

The pit was my neighbors, and was about 75-80 lbs according to him... he may not have been a pure pitbull though

  • @MrNativeDancer I have my pit for 16 and half years bless her, best dog I ever had.

Can I just ask, is your Ridgback small or is your Pitbull very large? Both fantastic dogs, they look happy and jolly!!!

  • @RTbar Agree 100% with you, them documentaries really do come up with a lot of rubbish and the gullible people believe it. I also read this crap in a news paper that Pitbulls have lock jaw and teeth that arch backwards. What a lot of crap!! Pitbulls have the same jaw structure as any other dog, its just they have stronger cheek muscles that is the only difference. Besides Rottys have a harder bite then a Pitbull. So why does the gutter press spread so many lies about the breed.

  • @SkullKron You have picked up the comments incorrectly. You try and get all facts straight first before replying - A person of mere moderate intelligence would know that.

  • @RedRebel8 We have two Ridgebacks and know a lot about the breed and what you are saying is not correct. It is foolish as a matter of fact.

  • @mangravy2000 I def understand what your saying about the Pit. That said, i have a German shepherd that protects my farmland, and about a year ago my neighbors Pitbull came on the land, and before i knew what was going on, my German shepherd quickly dominated the Pit. Being a humane person,i did called my German shepherd off, and the Pitbull ran away, and has never returned since. Anyway, i agree w you on fighting being sick entertainment; there are some pathetic losers out there.

  • @1sowild - I agree up to the point that this is when you will see the most from the GSD or RR even giving its life in the line of duty. When wolves fight to the death and I believe this to be true for males Lions as well. They will fight fiercely until the contest is decided. Then they will just quit and die or flee. Pits will go on command (die on command for entertainment is sick) chew off half of each others face and keep going. In nature both would die. Its unnatcural but imho the pit win

  • @mangravy2000 That's not always the case, it depends on the situation. Maybe in a ring the Pit has the advantage because it's a natural environment to them, where most other non-fighting breeds just want out because they need a "purpose" to fight. That said, you have a Pitbull attack the owner of a Rhodesian ridge-back, and i am VERY confident the Ridge-back would snap the Pitbull in half.

  • @maincourseistoocool - just as the world champion PBT wouldn't last an hour running the Iditarod or round up cattle. No hunting dog is going to best a true fighting dog. A to the death fighting dog (not Akita) is different than any other dog. Breeding and eating is when a dog will go to the death but most time it is till one submits and its over. Most dogs don't know what to do with a dog that doesn't follow the "rules".

Lion hunting? The PBT aint coming home.
