I'll explain how Shogi boards are classified into different levels of value. They're classified according to the kind of tree it's made of, or how beautiful the grain is, etc. I'll also show you an incredible skill called "Tachi-mori", or sword graduation, in which the craftsman draws lines by a Japanese sword.

Hey Hidetchi, I am travelling to Japan next March and i was wondering if you know of any locations where i could see a Professional Shogi match or maybe buy a traditional Shogi board straight from Japan. Any info is helpful. Thanks for the great videos.

I depends on which part of Japan you're going to.

You can find shogi boards everywhere in Japan.

If you're looking for reasonable mass-produced one, you can find one at any department store in relatively large cities.

If you're looking for traditional expensive ones, I think I can find a good store for you if you're going to major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, etc.

Just a board would be 20000, and the pieces would be at least 10000, so there is really no place for everything for under 15000.

Do you know anywhere online where to find a floor-board with pieces and everything for less than 15000 yen?
