I wish Bhanumathi were allowed to sing this song herself. I read that Rongila was a folk song that S D Burman heard when he was a child, some Vaishnav nomad saints used to sing it, just as it was shown in Devdas! That tune stayed with him and when he had the chance to use it in Devdas, he was thrilled. And Bimalda retained the context, too.

Very nice this genre of multilingual songs,illustrating India's variety....By the way I heard somewhere that Rongila was a folk song that was sung as such by S D Burman(of course his instrumentation and Voice make it into something different!),and the same melody was later used by him for Devdas:"Aan milo,aan milo" , my favorite song in this film.

You are right dear Madhubala, Rongila is a Bengali song sung by S.D.Burman and has been used by him in Devdas
