Flashlight Battery Test

The flashlights must have been direct drive, meaning they are letting the batteries drive the LED as fast and bright as the batteries will allow. Lithiums can dump their power much faster than alkalines can, which would explain what happened. Notice that the lithium flashlight has a brighter light for about 5 hours than the others.

just goes to show you , why i like my offbrand akalines , or durecell

You can call me wrong but these LED lights may not have limited how much the batteries should drain.

@magicmand13 lol theres some grade-A logic right there...

Was this uploaded Christmas day?

Are MagLights digitally regulated?
I think the Energizer Liths will outperform the rest if they were digitally regulated.

dang they lasted a while! i have a new faith in my mini maglite!

Interesting test results for a specific "intended use" characterization. Moral of this test is: Don't bother paying the $ for Lithium cells for that particular make/model LED flashlight. YMMV.

did you try testing these out on the call of duty black ops rc xd car that comes with the prestige edition, if you do i guarantee they wont last long at all, 30 mins if your lucky, i tried duracell plus energizer 2450 accucharge rechargeables, i am wondering what are the best AA batteries for the black ops rc car, of course this car has a motorized steering wheel with surveillence camera and sound.

energizer ultimate lithium lasts 8x longer my ass. is that why it died first.

not fair, the duracell battery was "duracell advanced", and the energizer, was the simple Energizer Alcaline. The fair thing is to compare it with the Energizer Advanced also.
why didnt the litium battery last longer its more expensive

My daughter ran the test twice. The second time she rotated the batteries to the left one, so that they were in different flashlights. (Even though each flashlight was a MiniMagLight LED she wanted to make sure it was the batteries and the flashlights did not enter in to the equation.)

Sure enough she got the same results. The Energizer Ultimate Lithium was by far the brightest at the beginning but it ran out very quickly. It is advertised as being better for high tech devices, but I'm guessing that means it can turn on and off and give a good current for a longer time. The alkaline batteries may last longer on a continuous load but not in an on-off-on-off... scenario.
