It's not so much "innocence" as it was that people had more class and maturity in their conduct. Today, "adults" are extensions of their teenaged development and never advanced beyond that. Hence the self-centered attitudes and "broken fingernail" drama.

As I understand it Allan Sherman went to Goodson/Todman with the idea for IGaS and at first they turned it down, saying it was too closs to WML?. Sherman supposedly replys "Well, you know someone's gonna make money with a rip-off of WML? It might as well be you guys." And GT agreed.
