Glue Ear is a build up of fluid in the middle ear and is a common cause of impaired hearing in children. A look at how the ear works looking at outer ear, middle ear, inner ear.

Video taken from 3D Anatomy for Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.

The DVD-ROM features highly detailed, accurate and interactive 3D anatomy models of the skull, head, neck, face, ear, nose, throat, eye, brain, cranial nerves and more. Plus specialized, surgery orientated views of the inner ear, nasal and oral cavities - including endoscopic views of the nose and throat - and many cross section views. Layers of anatomy can be added and removed and every model can be rotated or tipped allowing users to view and label any structure and interact with the 3D models in a unique way.

  • Wouldn't it be more logical to remove the blockage at Eustachian tube level (where the problem lies) instead of inserting a grommet into the eardrum (which only removes a symptom)?

  • :)) well, it depends on who's looking into the ear :D the changes could be seen on tympanic membrane, using otoscope, of course.

  • Is glue ear visible by looking into the ear?
