  • Thanks for pointing that out. Listing the song titles was a good idea. I just did that in the video description.

  • Chet was such an intense musician that he recognized genius in the music of Lennon and McCartney when other country musicians might have said, "What the hell ya' doing recording that stuff?". Chet knew what was good and he played everything he liked.

  • @EndTimesNow2012 - You are so right about Chet. I was a 14 yr. old boy when I first heard him on radio. So impressed with his 'finger picking' guitar style, I learnt to play the guitar. I am now 66 and still play my guitar (no where near Chet's style).

I often listen to him sing " I still can't say good-bye " one of his rare vocals ( This is on Youtube) Every time I hear this, tears come to my eyes.Chet means so much to me, a great human being and a guitar genius !!

  • Chet always kept that left thumb sticking out there to have easy access when he used it to do the lower notes of some chords. Strict classical guitarists would criticize him for it, but Chet knew what he was doing!

You can't really argue with over fifty years of success as the world's most popular guitarist.

  • Before he passed Chet played with some of the best Jazz players and left us some more great original music. Look up Street Dreams-Chet Atkins. And Stay Tuned, CGP and one other I can’t remember the title to right now. It will come to me as I lay down for bed to night.

  • 3 people didn't liked his golden watch!

  • @boguitar87

I agree - btw C.A. played on several Marty Robbins songs lead-guitar and Barney Kessel played on several Elvis-Soundtracks guitar

  • 2:35

So he wouldn't be shown up by those metalheads.

  • @2009framat As Chet said in interviews, he played rythm guitar on a few Elvis songs. Never leadguitar! He was present at many sessions of elvis, but just in 1956 he played on a few tracks.

  • @Honzisko123

Scotty Moore played the guitar on the original (hit)-version of HEARTBREAK HOTEL & said later that it was proably his most significant solo and the solo other guitarists connected with him. I do not know if Elvis ever recorded Heartbreak hotel with Atkins (but I doubt it).

  • I just want to recall that Chet Atkins played the guitar on Heartbreak Hotel with Elvis -:)

  • @jimirsaysbuddy Good point mate.

  • We Miss you Chet Atkins....
