  • I had one chevy once... thats why i have a Toyota now.......:)

  • You need to get the timing chain and guides and tensioner replaced if you don't the chain will wear a hole in the timing cover and you'll have to get another timing cover if you do it your self there is a 10 mm bolt in the head the has to be removed in wich in tales you to take the valve cover off and remove that 10mm bolt out of the head it's in the front of the head it will be covered with oil then you can take the rest apart

  • replace the guides, chain and cam chain tensioner

  • I had the same thing on my 84 22r timing chain guards were chewed by the chain...

time for a tune up baby.

  • @MrHurricaneFloyd True that, same thing happened to me. BUT most of the noise from a timeing chain is made on start up. very noticable......

  • YO!! sometimes when you tighten the valve cover down to much, it amps. the valve noise. and that is what I would check,,, the valves. The exhaust should be at0.012 and intake at 0.008. good luck

  • @dirtman2609 this guy knows what hes talking about

  • Check piston and rings

  • Timing chain guides are plastic and the weak point upgrade if you can to LC Engineering's Dual row chain kit they have not only stouter chains but guides to. Also don't forget to put mellings Timing chain/valve assembly lube and zinc additive to your oil or it'll gauld
