what the hell is so great about this ?, I live in simei and to me, this is just utterly rubbish, noisy cina mati in simei, big deal !!!!

the banners either bear the name of the organisations that had some relationship with the deceased or the family members, or the names of the troupes hired for the procession.
for the loud music, i am not sure. I believe it either makes the procession more grand or it actually celebrates the deceased having completed a 'journey' and has 'moved on'. The 'big-headed dolls' that accompanies the band are always seen dancing merrily to the music

can anyone explain why chinese funerals have procession like this?

Hi, this is only happening in Singapore where grand funerals usually is accompanied with many chinese funeral musical bands.
