Cliff Brown (a 1986 Grosse Pointe South Graduate and 1990 Central Michigan University graduate), a buddy of mine, was in a band called The Dopes. They played in bars all over Michigan. They have a lot of great songs; The Man, Freakshow, Shame, Help Me, ... So you Better find My Brother, Silhouette, DABASAC, Flowerland, and Betty. Joe McCarthy (lead singer, guitar, and founder), Travis Harrett (Drums), and Roy Truax (bass) were the other members of the band. Sadly, Cliff Brown died in 2001. I am uploading this as a tribute to the talented Cliff Brown, who played the guitar and sang in this clip (to the left of lead singer, Joe).

  • Man, The Dopes! I saw 'em more than once at Union Street in TVC 94 or 95 (I was stationed at the USCG Airsta).

Haven't thought of them in years. My favorite song is still "The Man", of course.

  • That's Doug Corella of The Verve Pipe on Drums and Mic from Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise on the bass. The out-of-tune and piss-drunk bass.

  • The tambourine man is a virtuoso at his instrument. Great job, Joe.
