i think i have this and insomnia, brilliant i am never gonna sleep

The only thing that helped before I was put on Tegretol and Requip was laying with a back messager under my legs. The vibration of the back messager kept my leg muscles "'moving" yet I was able to rest and sleep. This helps.

Watching t.v and knitting! I don't think so! If you have not suffered from RLS, you have no idea what it feels like. Even the drugs don't work all the time.

Ive always hated this conservative treatment approach. Like DUDE! i dont have time to take hot baths and do fucking word games! I have to be up early and I need to sleep! ICE PACK?! yeah right.

@keliata I too have symptoms during waking hours, sometimes I think my arms are afflicted as well....

Try medications, they're more effective. Get tested and treat any underlying conditions. The best non-medication relief I've used was to place a back messager either under my legs or on top of them. The constant motion of the messager makes it so that you don't have to constantly move around.
I went for about ten years without any relief, and I don't think I would have survived without that back messager.

@legubreous same here:( While I have found some relief with Requip and anticonvulsants (tegretol, keppra) going so many years without any treatment at all severely messed up my sleep/wake patterns. My RLS is severe and I even have symptoms during the day.

I have been dealing with this for thirty years......I'm so tired....

@juicearibe Compression isn't the answer, I know, I HAD horrible RLS. Look for the RLS Tamer, its new and it works. I've been using them for over 3 years and they work every night.
"oh no my legs hurt... time to knit!!!"
