Kronprinz Rudolf / The Crown Prince: the Confrontation

An excerpt from near the end of "The Crown Prince" (Kronprinz Rudolf), 2006. Rudolf gathers the courage to ask his father to abdicate in his favor; what actually happens is quite different. (Then Taaffe steps on him for good measure.)

I have posted this because (1) I am a great admirer of Count Taaffe, & found the portrayal of him a bit astute, if one-sided [well, it's told from Rudolf's POV!] and (2) this is a fabulous production which I strongly recommend anyone with a passing interest in the late Habsburg era to watch. It plays a bit with history - as most good dramas must - but is still a fantastic exploration of Rudolf's life.

It's a very good movie about Austria. I also love The Sound of Music, with Julie Andrews.

@Bachtro Die Realität sah leider anders aus: Rudolf betrog seine Ehefrau mit x Prostituierten (z.B. Mizzi Caspar etc.) und schließlich auch mit seiner letzten Affaire Maria von Vetsera, die ein uneheliches Kind von ihm erwartete. Er erschoss wohl Maria und dann sich. Er war leider kein romantischer Held. ;-/

Wirklich sehr sehr guter Film mit tollen Schauspielern und sehr Realitätsnah. Franz Josef, du warst ein guter Kaiser, aber ich glaube du warst zu streng zu deinem Sohn.

Schade um das Kaiserreich Österreich!

after watchin this i can see why the film ends like it does :( but i luv how the guy who plays rudolf!!i nearly cried wen his father told him he wudn't succeed :(
