A historic reportage from the hype days 2007: a flashy SecondLife news item about Australian Broadcaster ABC makes the rounds on SL blogs and other media outlets, even the mainstream press: promptly the community goes nuts. A lesson in how to stay calm as news director, not to jump to conclusions and let investigative journalism prevail...Marmaduke Mertel fills in for the vacationing Draxtor.
A "server error" that somehow returned large chunks of the island to someone other than the owner, just one of the online admin. None of us who were there thought it was an *online* griefer. We were sure it was either a simple mistake by someone, either at ABC or Linden Labs, or a deliberate "inside job". After all, this "glitch" had never been reported in the years SL had existed prior and the effects can be replicated easily by an admin.
