This is Bywater, one of the oldest neighborhoods in New Orleans. Most homes date from the 19th century. The neighborhood headed into serious decline in the 1970's-80's due to suburban flight. Despite what the videos suggest, it has improved steadily since then. My house was once a crack house, and the whole block was a crack block. It is now almost all owner occupied and the houses are restored. Property values are increasing despite the national trends.

Your videos are interesting. What region do you live in? You surveillance videos seem to represent the problems that came with the housing boom where less than desirable neighborhoods were sold as the new "up and coming" yet didn't realize that the seedy element still resided there flourished even more after the housing crash. I have friends in Oakland with seriously large mortgage$ that deal with theft, home invasion, and vandalism. I live in a new suburb in the middle of an old seedy part too.
