Marek Piekarczyk - Gethsemane (Gdynia 1999)

This is from the pro-shot video recording that was shot outdoors in Gdynia, Poland on 05.06.1999. Marek Piekarczyk performs the song Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. Piekarczyk's take on the song and role is a lot different then that of Ted Neeley or Steve Balsamo so it's best not to compare them. Although he definitely has a rock voice, one could argue that he doesn't have the nessesary vocal range, yet because of his acting he pulls through.

The original video had mono audio coming from the left channel only so I made it into stereo and did some additional remastering. I personally think the final result is a lot better.

It's great version ,though I still believe that Steve Balsamo had the greatest one :)

Yes it's a great performance and it's best not to compare it to Balsamo or Neeley or anyone else for that matter because it's just such a different approach to the role. Piekarczyk puts such emotion into his version that it's hard not to admire him. Also I thought his ending was great.

A,poza tym-Balcar i mała skala głosu..?!!!!!!

- nie rozśmieszaj mnie i nie obrażaj wspaniałego Artysty..którego widziałeś pewnie tylko raz..

uwierz mi,że będąc wielokrotnie na owym wspaniałym musicalu,miałam okazję przekonać się o sile jego głosu..i aktorskiego przekazu..

A,co do zagranicznych odtwórców..zarówno roli Jezusa jak i Judasza..preferuję Drew Saricha.
