Back in the 90's, I was involved in a PD (or Public Domain) group called Waking Dreams. At the heart of this group, which had varying numbers of members depending on what was being done, was Maverick. Maverick had learned assembly on the C64 at an early age, and became adept at ripping SID tracks from games, demos and whatever else came to hand. This culminated in the release of what we have here - the only surviving software we have of those days.

This little piece features a starry background with parallax scrolling, it's own font and a little scrolly at the bottom greeting various people - all coded by Maverick. I am having difficulty finding a computer with a parallel port and a 32-bit OS at the moment so I cannot upload this to a .d64 image just yet - hence why we have this video, here.

Running on real Commodore equipment - a C64G, 1541-II disk drive and 1084 monitor. Filmed with a Fujifilm Finepix S6500 fd. Apologies for the blur, I have no video capturing equipment to hand.

  • @PaulOFlaherty SID at it's best!

  • Ha, ha... This is sooooooooooooo bad, and I coded it. LOL Wow, bad parallax scrolling, the scroller at the bottom was way to fast and the loader could have been so much better. But still this was very early days and we were so proud of it back then. The music kicked serious ass though :)
