Disengagement captures Israel's pullout from Gaza and parts of the West Bank and chronicles its after effects one year later through the war with Lebanon. The withdrawal was Sharon's one billion dollar gamble for peace. But given the increases in terror attacks from before the move through its redeployment of forces in Gaza and month long fight against Hezbollah, the Israeli public never saw peace materialize. Our film juxtaposes every angle exploring why the Disengagement didn't produce its intended results. We side with neither camp, objectively telling the fascinating tale of Israel's controversial strategic experiment.

And even if we are to believe Sharon and all those who supported this were really blindsided by what happened. If, as you say, they wouldn't have done this if they knew it would bring more bloodshed. Why, then, are they pushing for more retreats? Are they still unaware of the bloodshed it will bring? Do you really believe they are that dumb?

    Be rational.

They are not stupid, they are evil.

Yes, danndan6, let's be rational. Sadly, you and most Jews are thinking emotionally. You don't want to believe that Israel's leaders are content with watching Jews die. But it is true. And you haven't addressed a single thing I said. Do you suppose Ariel Sharon - arguably the greatest military genius in Israel's history, and the very person who correctly warned us of the ultimate failure of every previous Israeli concession - do you really believe he didn't see it coming? (cont.)

  • NO ISRAELI leader would have disengaged from gaza if he thought it would bring more bloodshed. so yes succmgmt, lets be rational

  • After all that's transpired, ask those who supported the disengagement, whether they regret it. They will all say "No." That's because the disengagement was never about peace. It was carried out as a war against the nationalist/religious sector of the population. It fully accomplished the dehumanization of this demographic. The whole country has now come to understand that "those people" are not really part of the broader society. They are at best, tolerated guests.

    Mission accomplished.

  • With all due respect, the premise of this piece is false. The "disengagement" DID in fact produce its intended results. You see, peace was never the intended result. Let's be rational. Any child could have predicted the bloodshed that would follow. Do you suppose Ariel Sharon - arguably the greatest military genius in Israel's history - didn't see it coming? Of course he did. But peace was never the objective... (cont.)
