With sing-a-long lyrics! Written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, specifically with Ringo Starr in mind, this song appeared on Ringo's 1974 album "Goodnight Vienna". Elton himself played piano for Ringo's recording - it's him we hear counting off the song at the beginning! Guitar was played by Robbie Robertson (of The Band) and bass was provided by the great Klaus Voorman. On the synthesizer was James Newton-Howard, who later became keyboardist in the Elton John band, and of course even later, a great Hollywood filmscore composer. And a great horn section by Trevor Lawrence, who later played in Stevie Wonder's band. And did we mention Ringo Starr on drums? In short - WHAT A BAND!!!!!

BTW - I believe the painting at the end of the video was actually painted by Marge Simpson! ;o)

  • I wonder if that's Ringo or Jim Keltner on drums. Keltner did a lot of drumming on Ringo's, George's and John's albums in the 1970's

  • Actually, to be "honest" BOTH Ringo & Jim Keltner are credited on this track!

  • is that elton counting in the beginning?

  • yes

  • MY FRIEND THANKS FOR THE VIDEO AND PLEASE KEEP ON TRYING THAT THIS MUSIC WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • GEAR!!!

  • THE Robbie Robertson on guitar?

  • @RonnieFriend I would guess Ringo overdubbed some fills...

  • uma das melhores musicas deste album

  • you're welcome!

  • A very good song by the normally un-talented Ringo and often boring Elton John. I believe that this side of the record should have been the hit. I cannot understand why the other side, the awful "No No Song" was the side that charted. Theres no accounting for taste, I suppose.
