Obama vows to 'make BP pay' for oil spill damage

President Barack Obama has vowed to "make BP pay" for damage caused by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, in his first national address from the Oval Office.

Mr Obama said he would meet company executives later and tell them that they must set up a fund to compensate those affected by the spill.

The earth is bleeding, and we cannot stop it. They the greedy oil giants have stabbed OUR earth to suck out its life for money, what right do they have to kill OUR planet. The death penalty should be put upon all who profit from oil, that includes politicians that allow extraction for money. We will weep as our planet dies and the people will suffer :(

@richardolly1970 That's a very naive attitude. The world revolves around oil and it will do for many, many decades to come. Everything around you relies on oil. The plastics in the device you are viewing this video on are made from oil.

take away oil and it's not just no more combustion engines, you would be sitting naked on the dirt without oil and nothing will change in our lifetime.

There were probably hundreds of other sources of fuel when the car was being made, they had to use the one that would fucking kill our planet.

@Pasanonic That is true, but there are many safer deposits of oil that are yet to be used first. Its the greed of the oil giants that has pushed them to drill in waters so deep we are unable to do it safely. We need to learn how to do this work in a safe environment for several years before we try it for real.
