Fortresses in Europe - Serbia

These are fortresses and castles in Serbia.
Serbia is an very old country with great histroy. Their history started around 7 cen. when Slavic people, Serbs, come to Balkan. They had 5 countries:
Serbia (with Bosnia), Duklja (Montenegro today), Zahumlje, Travunija and Neretljanska. Later, they joined in to Rascia. First Serbian king was Mihailo Vojislav (Vojislavljevic) from Duklean Dinasty Vojislav. Mihailo was a grand prince 1050 - 1077 and later became a king 1077 - 1081.
Alfer falling to Byzanite Empire, Serbs, around 200 years later, liberated. The most famous Serbian dinasty was Nemanjic Dinasty.
First was Stefan Nemanja. He liberated Serbia and crush Vojislav Dinasty who became vazzals of Bizanty. Later, first king from this dinasty (a lot of Serbs don't know who is their first king and because the king Stefan Nemanjic called Prvovencani (Firstcrowned) they think that he is first Serbian king) was Stefan Nemanjic Prvovencani.
Serbia in the time of King Milutin had around 5,5 million people and the England in the same time had 4,5 million people.
The best and greates ruler of Serbia was Dusan The Mighty. He created the Empire. Serbian Empire in one period was the strongest empire in Europe. Unfortunaly, Dusan was killed and on the his young son Uros came on the throne. He didn't managed to keep Empire United and later, Empire fall apart.
Ottomans later, came on the Balkan. In the battle of Marica, they didn't respect European way fighting and they killed all Serbian solders at night. Later, in the year 1389 there were battle on Kosovo. Both rulers, Serbian Lazar and Turkish (Ottoman) Murat died. After battle, Ottomans withdraw from Serbia and later, Serbia became a Ottoman vazal and fell under Turkey.
Later, they have liberated from Turkey and the modern Serbian Kingdom was born.

The Serbs made a lot of fortresses (there are fortresses in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Pirot....) The biggest and one of the biggest in Europe is Smederevo fortress. There were big cities on Kosovo, south Serbia, like Novo Brdo or Zvecan.
