Funeral is for Family/Friends not the dead. It is closure for all concerned. (Mortician says"Here lies So-n-so, she is in a box about to be worm food. Her life was a waste and she was a drugy who died of a overdose. We are all better off now. Granny the the guy in the expensive robes you requested was busy doin missionary work, sorry.")<--Better Really?Funeral ARE to make people feel better and remember the GOOD things about the one who died. If you can't do that then don't go just send regards.

Well what I don't understand is how that, you're a can-do person, why you haven't insulated the garage—it could be heated almost with a candle, and in the Summer, would stay fairly cool

And 2, my Dad would buy tobacco and forego the children's milk—I've always thought that, tobacco, alcohol, or other licit or illicit addictions had nothing to do with salve for how that one felt but, everything to do with mere selfishness. And, isn't that more reasonable and more likely? And, I have smoked.

So many people are pretending to be something they are not. So many organizations pretend to be something they are not, e.g. religion, politics, corporations, academia, etc. They're playing a role which becomes their outer persona and the real inner person dies so all that's left is an actor playing an outward role. They don't even know they are lying because they can't question themselves - there is no inner person so there is no inner truth - just an empty role which gives them outward status.

I went to my wife's uncle's funeral in august.We cut out ALL THE CRAP by having a home party with sun and food.He never wanted the EXPENSIVE and STRESSFUL funneral home crap.

The funeral homes always told us to spend lot's of money because they said it would make us grieve better.The TRUTH IS that 20 to 30 K makes them grieve better and stresses us out.HATE that industry and a rebellion has arrived.Cremation and home get togeters are the better way :0)

There is evidence that you do go somewhere after you die but it is only better if you have been born again. I am sorry for your loss and I do wish you all the best. But it sounds like the religious stuff was not accurate or based upon the truth of what God is which is based on his word the Bible.

Sorry you lost a past friend. God is a scapegoat for weaker minded people to have a reason and a rhyme for how reality/life works. I'm not religious and don't look down on people that are. That said, Yes deal with reality and our unknowns instead of blind faith. Rad T-shirt " I don't trust anyone with imaginary friends" and has a cross. Also- I lost a lot of respect once so many lights had been shown on various religious sexual abuse.
