David HONEYBOY Edwards is he last of the living DELTA BLUES musicians. Still going strong in his 90's, this man is PURE BLUES...make no mistake about it.
I had the pleasure of seeing him for the 2nd time at BB KINGS club in NEW YORK CITY.
This was recorded on Monday 11/10/08
(I recorded almost every song, except 2 or 3 tunes)
HONEYBOY is accompanied by Michael Frank on harmonica & Rocky Lawrence on 2nd guitar.
I highly recommend seeing him!!!!
Also check out his book "The world don't owe me nothing." Its the best damn book you'll ever read! Tons of stories about Tommy McClennan, Robert Petway, Sonny Boy, Robert Johnson, Skip James, Charlie Patton, Son House, Howlin Wolf, and many more from the man who lived and learned from all these great bluesmen.
HONEYBOY is an AMERICAN NATIONAL TREASURE, and part of the essence that is the BLUES, which helped shape practically all music today as we know it!
Amazing that even at 95 he is still jamming. Man, if I had one wish before I die, it would be to play alongside this legend. He is the last of the great Mississippi Delta bluesmen.
