These little buggers looked cute and interesting to me at first, but then quickly became extremely annoying. I pulled no less than 100 of these off me on my 3.5 km hike back from Bumbum Tabing, a hide in the jungle of Taman Negara National Park. If I stopped for 10 seconds, I had leeches on me. They came quickly at about 1 inch per second from all around. They stowed away in every nook and cranny of my Tevas (sandals) and between my toes. At the end I found a patch of concrete to extract them all and clean my shoes. They get really big compared to their initial small skinny size once filled with your blood. Some seemed to release on their own and then traveled away at a much slower fatter speed.
