U.S. President Obama is pushing forward plans to double the country's exports in the next five years. The move, that could generate two million jobs, comes amid hopes that the country is finally pulling out of the depths of recession. But with the number of Americans facing poverty at a 50-year high, millions are still fighting for survival. RT's Lauren Lyster reports.

American poverty rate at the highest was in 1960's with 20% American live under poverty line compare to today 15%

American poverty line definition: House hold income under $22,000 a year which mean 15% "poor" American are still MUCH better than average Russian given their income is $13,911 a year.

Poverty is the universal constant of human life until the invention of bourgeois capitalism. Nothing "causes" poverty, it's the default position. We should be asking what causes wealth.
