Luca's 53 Dread Locks: One week later...

"Luca (5) gets his first dread locks".
Luca's dreads are now one week old and have been washed once. As a result they are not sticking out as much any more. Luca got a lot of compliments for his dreadies, even from total strangers. He is still a very happy little boy :).

Its very intresting that at such a young age Luca would ask for dreads. I mean I'm 16 and still trying to convince my parents to let me get them. Very enlightend little boy you have there! lol love them he's adorable

Maybe it is easier to convince your parents when you are 5 - at that age my parents thought I could do nothing wrong ;)

This looks like very painful and unnatural scalp strain on that poor little boy, also has a lot of scalp showing - never go to salons for dreadlocks, they don't know what they're doing.

I'm sure you're good a cornrows, extensions etc, but please stop doing dreads =)

Thanks for your comment. I disagree with you though. First of all a 5 year old kid would not last the 8 hours it took to make this dreads if it had been painful. Second, it is a sign of a good job if the scalp shows, it means we dreaded throughly down to the roots. The dreads will grow out and the scalp will be covered again. No customers wants to leave the store with dreads half done. I think you probably just prefer the "neglect style", which means the hair is merely matted

Für meinen Geschmack etwas zu wenig "Fusselhaare", was aber am eifrigen Häkelmarathon von Tinka liegen mag ;-)

und sie stehen ihm ausgesprochen gut!!

@charberry I mean no disrespect but I hear a lot of people saying they got dreads for a spiritual reason and most of the time they don't know what that spiritual reason is exactly. Can you define that subjectively?
