This academic crap is of no practical significance. If only the people leading the occupy movement were brighter this could have made significant change

Talking about the world and the democracy that we would like to live in....in a public forum will incite violence from police in the US. What speaks louder than that against the present corporate controlled system?

ANYONE who believes in freedom and democracy will protect any americans right to free speech and free sharing of ideas without violent repercussions....otherwise, you are promoting a corporate dictatorship as they are the ones threatened by this kind of speech.

I find that pp who do not deal with facts nor are they informative contributors to these kinds of public debates usually only serve to cause distractions through insults and nonsense. Better just to ignore them as if they were not non existent in the discussion. I have so much respect for anyone who is willing live their convictions as has Julian and as do these young men and women. There is no other way to counter the enormous power of corporate money.

Don't ask for a direct democracy. Don't ask for permission to do anything. Just make a direct democracy, become a direct democracy.

so long as occupy is a tame protest appealing to corporate democracy it will be accepted & toned down by that media structure. Discussions like this promote celebrity & by implication heirarchy ie just a variant upon tv & representative democracy. "look up, its us! Listen to the truth" .... people should stop listening to well meaning celebrity & just say no to celebrity corporate rule. Dont demand direct democracy. CREATE IT. Dont waste time occupying representative democracy spaces.

The 1% argument is true but is also is a distraction from the greater truth, which is this: there is a global movement in all governmental two-party systems to economically, politically and socially bring in a New World Order. Much of the left have succumbed to this movement and do much of their dirty work for them. THE EVIDENCE IS OVERWHELMING.

The Occupy Movement was usurped by the old totalitarian left and pro-Obama groups (eg MoveOn.) and the mainstream media. What started off as a trans-political people's movement ended up as just another left-wing project. As soon as the left took over, they vetted everyone who disagreed with their ideological perspective, thus effectively gutting the movement...
