@Roverr23 this is indeed one of the most marvellous pieces of music i've ever heard, but you should hear this:
/watch?v=GnPr-0f_Gp4
this northern italian folk song was first collected in 1600 by giuseppino del biado in his book of madrigals, it's called indeed "la mantovana" or "fuggi, fuggi". it became so popular all over europe that almost every country now has its own folk version (scotland, sweden, romania, poland, ukraine and czech republic)... so its very italian indeed :)

Wunderschön!
shame this piece is much shorter than original but still beatifull. Of course Smetana was Bohemian (Czech) but in his time that was under the command of Habsburg´s monarchy, which means czech language almost disepeared. Thanks god it did not. So I dont really understand why people here talk about WWII. It has nothing to do with nazy times but with the "dark age" of Bohemian 1622 - 1918. Anyway noone can change the fact this truly is master piece of classical music. Greetings from Prague!

This is a musical depiction of the river's course through Bohemia.
One day I will visit Prague and stand by Vltava, and admire the river which, since my teenage years, was presented to me in this glorious piece of music!
