1957 Citroen Traction Avant

One of the earliest popular cars with front wheel drive! It definitely has style...and its dash mounted gearshift lever was unusual. Note the suicide front doors, regular rear doors...and the turn signal semaphore on the side of the car.

On the 75 year aniversery (2009)of that type of car that were made between 1934 and 1957, there were 1150 traction's in Arras France, it was a bigger happening.

Oh and yes the knob that you see is to open the front window, a kind of airco......

Hello Jack you found my traction again in Old Town, Kissimmee, we covered the rear seat because we had our dog Bear riding with us. The "emblem" on top of the radiator is an " hirondelle" or swallow in English, original Robri accesoire. I hope to see you again in Old Town, my other TA just came back from Europe we had a 75 year aniversery of the Traktion Avant in Arras in 2009 We had shipped over the 11 normal from 1955.and had a raid in 2010 in Pas de Calais with 75 Traktions Greetings Willem

Should have bought one of those back when I was living in Germany ('56- '61). They were cheap and it would have been a fun car to have at the Univ of MD. Oh well, hindsight is 20-20

Ja, other typical "gangster cars" in films were here : black Mercedes middleclass ( 200 , 230 till 250 SE, 280 SE etc..) and in USA often black Lincolns and Cadillacs.

But always black...hehe
