I have a question...Do you have benefits in using this kind of swimming in competitions of 100 200 and 50 meters?...Or only for long competitions?
Thank you in advance.

You use in short distances a combination of higher stroke rate and shorter stroke length than shown on this clip. Swimming for long distances demands different setting. Technique doesn't change matirially (in 50 races it's a bit different and most sprinters apply different stroke timing, different recovery and different breathing patterns).

thank you but my point is...I notice that you place your hand low in the water when gliding...most swimmers place the hand near the surface of the water when gliding...and I talk about olympian 400m 800m and 1500m swimmers...Do you have benefits in using this type of hand placement? Such as what?
Thank you in advance

For recreational swimmers i.e. not opympians, the most important thing is to keep their body balanced (prevent the legs from sinking). TI head coach Terry Laughlin found up years ago that if you slice your hand deep, your legs won't sink (head position is also crucial). We teach placing the hand deeper to eliminate drag and enable the swimmers to swim through the smallest possible hole. Watch the series of lectures of Terry on YouTube...
