It puts nothing to rest . Maybe when I see women building Jumbo jets , high rise flats , billions of miles of motorway , farming billions of acres, spending lifetimes down mines digging coal, and a million other aspects of life throughout the ages that women could not even imagine , never mind create with their bare hands .... yes , the odd woman in a thousand can play a little guitar .... that evens everything out . Could you be any more stupid ?

The previous post "speaks my mind."

Ah, yes, "Rainfest". I'd forgotten the free B&J's.
And was impressed by the either daring or foolhardiness of the women to get on stage at the end - it was so dark (and ankle-deep in water) by that time.
16 years ago?! AAGH. Time flies. But great music from all 4 of them continues, although separately. (I'd love to see a "reunion tour")

The big rain was in '92. That year the festival ended with the four voices set being shut down by a lighting strike on a day that saw 5.5 inches of rain. (We did get free Ben & Jerry's before the show ended for just being there!!)By the end of the show there were no more than 150 die hard fans remaining. Luckily, they were re-booked for the following year. I can't believe that was 16 years ago.

agreed, it was fantastic show, but maybe the chills were partly from getting so WET...all that rain!!!!;-) great memories of a stellar newport lineup.:-)
Would've been nice to have heard the vocals and music instead of the hooting, screaming, clapping jackoffs that define American audiences. In the beginning of the hysteria that was the Beatles, English audiences would quietly listen and then applaud. In the USA it was pure screaming, insanity that drowned out ANY part of the performance. It was what drove the Beatles into the studio where they eventually imploded.

When I saw the description of this video, my heart skipped a beat! A few of my very favorite musicians playing a song written by my favorite musician of all time. Thank you so much for posting!
