(June 3)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] Just weeks after the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriages, voters in the Golden state may have a chance to outlaw them. An initiative making gay marriage illegal has qualified for the November ballot. If the measure passes, it would amend the state constitution -- defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman. On May 15th, the California Supreme Court legalized gay marriage. Local officials can start issuing marriage applications to gay couples June 17th. Gay couples would still be able to get married between the middle of June and the election unless the court agrees to stay its decision until after the November 4th election. If the measure passes, its unclear if gay marriages in the next five months will be nullified come November. Recent polls have found that California voters are about evenly split in their support the gay marriage ban amendment. Marriage derives from the word 'to merge into one'. Marriage is not founded upon the ability to make babies, save lots of money, own property, nor be upstanding people in a religious context within society. Marriage is the merging of to souls who are in love, regardless of what sex one is, love is not defined by one's set of sex organs. Love is pure and simple, from the heart.

Ok BigTexan, since marriage is purely a religious institution let's get rid of marriage licenses altogether! Go to your church and do whatever you want, but if you want the legal protections of marriage you'll have to do what gays have been doing for years and go pay a lawyer thousands of dollars to draw up power of attorney contracts and such just so you can't be denied the right to visit your spouse in the hospital.
