In 1968, small North Shore High School in Glen Head, NY had what one college coach called "the best relay team ever produced in Nassau County history." The Mile Relay team, known as "The Four Horsemen," consisted of Bill Sherwood, Chuck Hendrickson, Barry Meyer, and Bob Marsden ("Flash"). They were coached since freshmen year by Dr. Norman Ross. During the Indoor Track season, the team was selected to represent Nassau against the best relay teams in suburban New York and New Jersey in the Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden, the premiere Indoor Track meet in the world. Racing against teams from schools many times larger than NSHS, the team won a silver medal. Each member of the squad ran faster than the standing school 440 record.
