Somewhere inside Julian Koster lives a 13-year-old boy filled with wonder and imagination. Performing with his band The Music Tapes, the Elephant 6 and Neutral Milk Hotel alumnus plays a holiday set complete with bowed banjos, singing saws and tape machines at the NPR Music offices.

  • I'm sad to see there are so many negative comments on this wonderful video. Julian Koster is one of the most talented individuals that I've ever had the pleasure of encountering, and I think if more people had an outlook like him the world would be a better place.

  • This is great. It's no longer Christmas, but nonetheless I get all warmth and love from his playing! The last song is adorable! This video made me smile :)

  • Advice for the younger generation: shut your mouth, close your eyes and enjoy this great tiny desk concert. Music tapes is an underrated group, Everyone is so obsessed with the way people dress . I don't understand this folks educated by Mtv...
