my question is why burn a house if no one is going to go inside and train with fire supression techniques... kind of pointless in my opinion.

Ez az amerikai álomház, ha tűz van porig ég, ha tornádó jön darabjaira törik. A téglát miért nem használják?

They don't go into it if it isn't safe, and when every level of the building is on fire, it isn't safe anymore. They could easily go through a floor or have a ceiling come down on them.

I hope they aren't burning houses down that could have been fixed up and donated.

it's burning WAY too fast, probably all made of wood and no brick walls.

Nicely controlled burn. Very well done.
Our department did the same thing. I have a couple of videos showing our burn. Its great experience for the new guys who have never seen real fire. It allows for ventilation, forcible entry, exposure protection and interior attack.
Can't beat a live burn when it is done correctly, which this was. Good job.

One class I was in, we practiced Fire Suppression and hose Venting inside of a concert structure at a Bigger Citys FD training ground. When we did out final Live burn, we would sit in the room with two hose lines at the ready, light the corner and watch it go over our heads, then put it out. And finally let the whole building go up.

thats cool. i wish somebody would donate a house for my department to use, we could really use some action! at least they didn't just stand there and let it burn
they were probably trying to demonstrate how a fire spreads in a typical structure. but i do agree, they should've taken some crews in and practiced

This was part of an all day training evolution. There were probably 20-30 firefighters that took part. Each room was lit and then the crews entered and trained according to the evolution (ventilation, supression, fire development, etc.). The house was slated for demolition and the owner graciously donated it to the FD to save on demolition costs and to give the FF's a live fire training experience.
