Thomas Wolsey - Viva la Vida

This video is about Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, who was Lord Chancellor and virtual ruler of England during the early reign of Henry VIII, but his faliure to secure the King a divorce from Katherine of Aragon so he could marry Anne Boleyn was fatal and his enemies pounced. The clips are from the TV series, the Tudors, with Sam Niell as Cardinal Wolsey and the music is Viva la Vida by Coldplay, I own neither the music or clips.
P.S. Wolsey didn't commit suicide as in the Tudors, he actually died naturally on the way to London from York, to be tried for treason, it was probably lucky that he died, for had he been tried he would probably have been found guilty and executed.

Really good video the song has so much meaning in terms of Wolsey's life and downfall e.g being the "Alter Rex" and ending up being trialled on treason and having all his power relinquished. also great use of video from "The Tudors".

Great video! Sam Neil played the cardinal perfectly, and this video did him justice. Well, he picked the wrong enemy when he stood up against Norfolk. The Duke orchestrated his Boleyn puppets and brought Wolsey down. As you said, good thing he escaped trial, at least.
