Notch 3 is when the Turbocharger has enough exhaust gases running through it to make the aforementioned scream. Notch 1 is when the train is using idle power to move slowly, ie, when shunting around the yard under its own power.
Are you a Napier Turbocharger or a Valenta engineer? If so, I believe at 15 you are the youngest.
