@gerdvar The mfr. recommends upright freezers w/ overriding t-stat. In their words: "Frigidaire (or Kenmore equivalent) The 13.7 cu ft models work well for the 7 and 14.5 gal Fermenators. The 20.3 cu ft models work well with the 27 and 42 gal models. These are all frost-free units. We have no control over the design of these freezers, so it is best that you measure the actual unit before purchasing it to ensure that it'll fit."

It's there a convenient way to control temperature with the fermenators? A typical home brewing practice would be to stick it in a fridge with a thermostat but I don't think these would fit in a regular fridge.

When rotating the racking arm valve, how can you be sure that a leak won't develop? Is that port/assembly sealed?

@khertler Yes - there's a stainless flared fitting between the ball valve and the internal racking arm, plus a gasket on the male side of the fitting to keep a seal against the external wall of the cone. Once it's sanitized and installed prior to filling with wort, you don't really need to move or rotate it until it's time to rack the beer out. I've never had my CF14 at home leak in 4.5 years of use, still on the original gaskets & seals.
