Joe Carraro discusses the failures of how just funding more unemployment insurance doesn't fix our unemployment problem, and the government needs to think of new ideas that would benefit both the unemployed and small businesses. As a former small businessman himself, Joe Carraro suggests that instead of kicking the can down the road that the government should put the money to help subsidize small businesses hiring new employees who could then earn more than just the amount of their unemployment check, plus they get work experience and training while the small business gets the increased productivity and efficiency that comes from having an additional employee to help grow their business for consumers who, like their new employee, would be earning a wage above what unemployment costs,
Duh! Why can't these candidates for office think of something out of the box that makes sense and is innovative for a change? Are they that unsure of the capability of small business people, to not trust them with these business decisions, and yet fall over backward to do whatever big business and government thinks is right. Maybe we need to think out of the box and find another candidate.

Another good idea. Looks like your Governor Martinez in NM is going to use this one to solve NM unemployment. Maybe other states will catch on. Maybe even Fed government. Hope they listen and you get credit. keep up good work.

What happened is right Joe!! We need accountability from this administration.
The money spent cannot be accounted for.
Thanks for the straight talk as always Joe!!

You're right again, Joe. The worst is yet to come.
Those of us who have continued to work for less & less in the private sector who have been saving up for our own retirement (with our own IRA's & 401k's) were rolled (when the market crashed and still has not come back). Then our taxes will be raised next year...all to subsidize government & union retirees to produce NOTHING.
We know:
Today...manufacturing unemployment = 34%
Today.......government unemployment = 0%
DC hasn't a clue.

So very true! The Average Joe with an open minded view and for the full picture of "all" gives us such wisdom! However, when those in government start taking away humanity and our rights, well it grossly lacks wisdom what they do,and as outcomes harming to many!!! In Entrepreneur I read Washington is still full of talk talk over any economic recoverys for small businesses. Why? As I'm guessing you know Joe, their only concerns are with their own, and that is putting it mildly.

Good Idea - I like what you just said. That could change America! Obama has not really helped us at all. ~ General Biggs ~

@bigsteelguy considering the lack of discipline these children receive at home, it no wonder that teachers have become complacent. illiteracy rates of 50 percent in some urban areans have everything to do with parents. everything begins at home, it just excacerbates outside the home. mdeia also plays a role. socializing children to have conlfict rather than coordinate. our news teaches us to fight. reality tv. etc etc. socieety plays a bigger role and we are failing our children

I Agree with you as for the Parents, but it's not just them, it is us the people that must take responsibility for our children to be properly educated to they're liking, and teach them empathy, love, respect, communication, and cooperation.
That is what is missing in the class rooms.
