This is my second test at making a lightsaber in Blender. Still not perfect, but getting there.

  • Awesome! How you did it?!

  • @lunatizh Can hardly remember now, to be honest. Something in the halo options of Blender back then. Not sure if it is still in there, or changed/replaced with something new.. But, if I remember correct, make a line with many vertices inbetween it, and fiddle with the halo option. THen add some motion blur and you should be good to go.

  • nice You use halos? hmmmm if you do that how do you do motion blurs

  • Halos, yeah. Motion blur is in the rendering options, where you select size and output, etc. You can enable it there.

  • Not bad. I actually came up with a really good way of making lightsaber blades with Blender3d. I'm not a Star Wars fanatic, but I was trying to think of ways to do them. I might post a video showing at least what they look like. If I have time, I might make a tutorial too if anyone is interested.

  • Please do! I'd like to see more tutorials for Blender all the time :D

  • do you know how to reflect halos because ive made a lightsaber too and got a reflective plane underneath but only the handle reflects, not the actual light bit. It would be great if you knew :) nice vid too

  • Is there a way to add lighting in the place of the texture? or you have to make a high light and conect her with the saber by armature or parent? :)

  • @noxHand Thank you!

  • U guys should see my new blender lightsaber, no halos used, only added glare and vector blur

  • yeah read the title

  • nice job, but you should make the animation with a rig , like i did, i used Ludwig, ans scale the bottom of the beam down in edit mode, its cutting through the handle, like viking55330 said.
