@tomterahedrob It isn't painful at all. You learn to fall properly. There are no strikes, and you usually tap out of an armbar pretty quick before it hurts too bad. Aside from that there isn't anything else that could hurt you. In tearms of it being mean, it really isn't. Just like in all contact sports - hockey, football, rugby, other martial arts, the participants agree to the contact going in. What attracted me is the discipline and the fact that unlike other martial arts Judo is regulated.

What do you like about fighting people in judo?From theoutside to me it seems pointless and mean and painfull.What attracted you to it initially?
