There is an Alternative to the sprawl that has consumed America over the past 30 years. The green movement could be harnessed to bring a culture of sharing, happiness, and real community back to society. The byproducts of this evolution would be an increase in physical, mental, and spiritual, health and a decrease in debt, disease, violence, and depression. I met some of the most intriguing people I have ever interacted with at Bobby's Farm, These people are the real revolutionary's and they experience freedom in many ways by denying what a consumption base society says you must do. I hope to do a documentary soon about their story and the movement that if ignited will surely pull us out of the disaster courss our nation and other developing countries are headed down. i leave you with an excerpt from an email transaction i had with Bobby just so you can see how special he and Amber are.

"To be honest, there hasn't been a great weekend to visit. Amber and I only made it Shakori Hills on Friday night. We've been pretty busy as usual, both on and off the farm. I taught a workshop on rain gardens last weekend to an edible landscaping collective in Durham. Amber set up two bee hives recently and made some homemade lotion last night from bees wax and some rosemary oil she extracted using her distiller. We are both helping out with a community garden project at a school in Siler City. I bought an '82 Mercedes Benz diesel and hope to get a biodiesel reactor set up soon."

  • A fair share of land, water, air and other survival needs should be the birthright of every person alive. Only by making sure each person has a right to these basics can we have an environment without wars, exploitation, overpopulation and poverty.

  • This is just a small farm, sustaining a group of people, a lifestyle not sustainable without money for fuel and equipment. Nothing new age here............!

  • You shouldn't have to pay to live on your own planet !!

  • nice idea, but not everybody has or can afford loads of land.

  • I knew that's why they had that old mercedes!

  • Refreshing, real, and inspiring.

  • Awesome! Has he ever heard of aquaponics? It's very green (uses less water than conventional gardening and hydroponics). We want to grow lettuce and yellow perch... but people usually grow tilapia with their veggies. What an inspirational video.
