so basically he was drunk (didnt know what he was doing) accidentally killed children (he didnt purposely kill them) and the police have to blame someone for murder so it might as well be him (so if i was in a car with a drunk driver i might aswell jump out the car while he's doing 90mph and kill myself rather than rot in jail)

How many chances do you think he had to not drive. So who do you think is to blame? Maybe the person who sold him the alcohol, sold him the car, made the car or made the parts for the car or maybe the person who drove it without regard for other people you tell us!

@smigbabb normally when a person is in the custody suite or within a secure area the cuffs are removed. The only exception to this is if the person is a possible risk to other people (i.e. violent).

He deserved the punishment. No question!

But, by all accounts of people who knew him, he was not the stereotypical footballing thug so loved by the tabloids. By all accounts he was a quiet, modest gentleman. He was not a mindless thug acting aggressively, flaunting his "celebrity" or waving his money. He made a mistake. It will cost him so much.

Its sad to think he was only given a 7 year and a bit sentence, when the lives of 2 children added to 18 years of their lives wasted plus a hell of lot more ahead of them... These kids could have been some of our best and brightest, or most talented, and are taken away by some thoughtless idiot because he plays football and owns a fancy car, he can do what he likes. He should have got a minimum of 15years with no parole option for what he had done, and once he is released banned from driving.
