LTG H. Steven Blum and LTG Roger C. Schultz discuss how the Army National Guard is adapting to changes in the modern world. Since the National Guard is no longer a cold war reserve, it is transforming into an international, highly adaptable force that can be called upon to face a variety of challenges worldwide.

  • 1996 When the Taleban took power in Afghanistan, it was largely orchestrated by the Pakistani secret service and the oil company Unocal.

  • lovejoy, you call yourself a patriot, but what have you ever done for your country? anything? probably not, so don't talk down to the american soldiers following orders that help stabalize situations like katrina. your probably a 40 year old dude living at home with your mom swallowing all the liberal bullshit propaganda that your tv spoon feeds to you.

The soldiers who helped the victims in America have my respect but the soldiers invading countries and killing people for oil are sickening.

  • With respect i disagree with this,The guard was never designed to be a long term offensive force, it was supposed to be only deployed on the federal level when there was a direct threat to the nation. One only has to look to the founding fathers and their quotes to find truth in what ive stated. They feared that a large standing army would erode the freedom and liberty of this nation, Return our Organized Militia to the State Legislatures!

  • "To watch the courageous Afghan freedom fighters battle modern arsenals with simple hand-held weapons is an inspiration to those who love freedom."

    — U.S. President Ronald Reagan, March 21, 1983

    Kick ass Afghans

  • @lesdoyle2000 Taliban*

  • I personally only have great things to say about the guard. I've been in for 11 years and I enjoyed my time as a private as well as an NCO. I've earned 2 college degrees payed for by the guard. Traveled to places I other wise would have never traveled to.... Seen things most people will never see. I'm from Louisiana and worked With hurricane Katrina, Ike and gustov. Nothing but heroes! If your from Louisiana and interested in joining the guard call me.... I only speak the truth!! I'm SFC Mike M

  • I know how every COD kid out there has plagued the military world with aspirations to become the elite fighters. Most of all, snipers, but hear me out as someone who isnt in it for the sick kicks. Ive wanted to be in the army since I was little. I have experiance with rifles but im not sure the exact requirements that I have to meet to become a sniper. Can anyone current or former military give me some advise? Thanks!

  • @lesdoyle2000 Invade what for what oil?

  • @dhaltonmorris your joking right? your fucking retarded.

  • @4everUSNavy Yeah I agree, but there are a shitload of Talibans walking thorughout the area so we could have used a great sniper during our service times, but anyways, go for your dream, become a sniper it would help a lot of men.

  • @Born2kill2891

actualy, afghanistan is Perfect for Sniping and so is iraq. the cities allow for alot more hide-outs.

and their are only 2 kinds of soldier

    Snipers and The Sniper's Target

  • @4everUSNavy I wouldn't become a Sniper for any branch in the Military, personally I loved being on the ground as an Infrantry but my opinion is different than yours, now that the Afghasastan war is our main priority, which trust me was horrible, is long range Sniping abilities, well if you do join National Guard, I would say an engineer or a ground soldier, which was my favorite for the Army, not National Guard, so I don't know much about that, but Army is wonderful, So message me back, thanks.

  • i wouldnt mind being a sniper in the national guard.

    any tips

  • I want to be a stryker driver. The power of being behind the wheel of one of those.

    Don't fuck America.

  • after training my ass off in the active duty infantry for years then mainly just standing around as we all got yelled at in the NG i was kind of apprehensive about going to war with my unit but we prayed a lot and we completed our missions and we all came home alive, the unit before us and and the unit after us unfortunately can't say that, and I credit the Lord, and don't tell me the Bible is anti war, it is full of warriors, Moses, Abraham, David, Debra, etc.. etc.. etc...

  • The US spent $1,002,000,000,000.00 $tax to invade for oil.

Now the British are giving it to US for free.

  • @TheTechTinker Active duty is obviously a full time job, your job is to be a soldier, and both active duty and reserves are federally funded while the Guard is funded by each state.

National guard goes through the same training as both active and reserves, and the National guard can have combat MOS's while the Army Reserve only works in support, and offer no combat jobs.

  • Active Duty is the first one to be called and get the latest and greatest equipment reserves go one weekned a month and two weeks during the summer and the National guard well idc what any of them have to say they aren't army because the Active and reserves are federaly funded and the guard is state and get the hand me downs from the regular army and the biggest casualties are National guard we call them wanna be's because they hardly do shit it sucks ass

  • What is the difference in active duty, reserves and national guard. I want to enlist as active duty. I am just wondering what the differences are.
