@vprmn That does not explain why he could not turn the wheel mate;-). The proof is there, the column was welded and it snapped.

@sabretoothJones only senna knows what happend, i think about low tyre pressure, and very nervouse back of fw16. and new surface in tamburello.

I think his helmet in the mirror tells the biggest story, as soon as the steering column breaks his head leans to the left because there is no G force pushing his head towards the right like there would have been if he were to be taking the corner properly

it is obviously difficult to see anything! but it is clear that something happens in the movement of the hands of senna! something fast .. he tries to make a move fast and free ...
desperate in a fraction of a second.

@chrismarkbicknell NO! I DONT AGREE WITH YOU

@TheMazaro The statue of limitations had expired on the case after 7 years. The sentence for Pat Head was given 13 years after the crash; by law, they can't arrest him for it.

@clydeyello I struggle even further with the way the Williams data recorders were removed immediately after the crash in tact but with some superficial exterior scratches, but were presented 5 months later to police without all the footage up to the collision. If this extra footage incriminated Williams' steering column it is of little surpise that they were so keen to secure it. Their excuse at trial for the delay in supplying the box was misunderstanding 'pictures' for 'footage' - very feeble!
In the verdict numbered 15050 the Court stated the following: "It has been determined that the accident was caused by a steering column failure. This failure was caused by badly designed and badly executed modifications. The responsibility fell on Patrick Head. Even being found responsible for Senna's accident, Patrick Head was not arrested: in Italy the statute of limitation for manslaughter is 7 years and 6 months, and the final verdict was pronounced 13 years after the accident. Offical fact.

@clydeyello So if Senna's tyres & brakes werent up to racing temp, how do you explain his 6th lap (immediately after the SC pulled in) ending up being the 3rd fastest lap of the race? Yes he was under pressure from Schumi in the race itself & due to the two DNFs, so he would've been pushing hard. However just as you believe a team like Williams wouldnt let a car start with a column made of swiss cheese, I struggle to believe the best driver who ever lived voluntarily straight-lined into a wall
