In the video, you see that we keep the queen in a separate box. This is because the worker bees were taken from a different colony and need time to adopt her as their queen. If they are not separated, the could kill her. After a few days, however, she should become accepted and we will release her.

  • very Interesting on the process of setting up a hive -- after watching this video, I'm ready to setup my own. Is there more video? -- this was too short

  • What a great project for a grad student. Thanks for sharing although we would have liked to get a better shot of the queen. We heard the queen was boxed separately and an explanation for that practice would have been enlightening. Handsome grad student. Is he single?
